By: Brandon V.A. Davis

Starting out as a server at her fathers restaurant, Christina never thought for a second that she would ever be exposed to sexual harassment, until she was. For years she ignored it and eventually decided to find work elsewhere, but the harassment followed her as well.

Sexual harassment had become systemic to her, something that she knew had to tolerate working in this type of industry. So instead of spending her life avoiding it, Christina decided that she would begin her own business, a place that would be a safe space for men and women alike.

Unfortunately sexual harassment is an epidemic that has been maintaining its presence in our society for many years, in which she an incident she had to deal with herself.

This is a story about a woman and her journey of 20 years in the restaurant industry and how even as an owner you are still unfortunately susceptible to the horrors of sexual harassment.

“In 2016, the EEOC released a comprehensive study of workplace harassment in the United States, which concluded that 'anywhere from 25% to 85% of women report having experienced sexual harassment in the workplace'. It’s a strikingly wide gap, but one that is very substantial even in its most conservative estimate — statistically predicting one in four people are affected by workplace sexual harassment".
